Each Other Company is a Jakarta-based design studio that believes in genuine strategy and meaningful creativity as a contribution to better businesses, cultures and communities. With a strong background in graphic design and a diverse team, our works reflect the studio’s progressive ideals of design through collaborative effort and dynamic dialogue. Committed to the development of design, we have initiated various independent projects that encourage a global discourse on design.
Since 2015, we have involved ourselves in various works, including:
— Co-curated and produced Ways of Reading, a collateral design exhibition for the London Book Fair's Indonesia Market Focus 2019.
— Curated and produced On Paper, a Colorplan exhibition in collaboration with G . F Smith (UK) and RJ Paper (SG);
— Developed visual identity, environmental graphics, and book design for Indonesia Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018;
— Built an installation for Indonesia Fashion Forward at the Jakarta Fashion Week 2016;
— Art direction and design for Wonders of Weaving (2015–) and Korea-Indonesia Media Installation Art Exhibition (2016–17);
— Established and redeveloped brand identities of fashion brands such as fbudi, Sean Sheila, Cla, and Ambiyo;
— Designed books documentary photographer Andri Tambunan, and Korean Cultural Center;
and graphic design and ongoing consultancy for Aboday (2018–), Byo Living (2015–), and Ruko Roxy Mas E2/30 (2017–)

With an established team of diverse backgrounds, our studio prepared and opens to partner in with varied businesses, organisations and institutions with alternative services. This includes:

Committed to the development of design through a global discourse, we engage in projects and research on the relationship between education, design and popular culture.
— Further Reading, a multi-format publishing platform that compiles a series of reading references, produce critical design periodicals, and occasionally curates and organizes exhibitions and workshops.
— Other Review, a digest of findings that casts light on design process, contemporary ideas and creative inspiration. Through communication, we aim to examine the importance of design piece-by-piece.
— City Scan Map, an on-site research session and workshop that maps the layers of a city through a graphic design approach.
— Mystery Cinema Club, a program that approaches the miscellaneous forms of design in film. The audience is invited to visit unpredictable places and join a clandestine film screening curated by our team.
Januar Rianto is the founder and creative director of Each Other Company. Prior to founding the practice, he worked in various industries including advertising and marketing in Malaysia and Indonesia. Graduated from London, he later broadened his research and design methodologies in Italy and Japan focusing on speculative design and design critique. His practice mainly engages within the intersection of education, design and popular culture. He is an awarded member of the International Society of Typographic Designers, UK (2012), and a bronze prize winner of the 10th Asia Graphic Design Triennale, South Korea (2018).
The studio grows and contracts depending on particular projects. The current team comprises: Immanuel-Johannes Palar, Chrisvensia Layhadi, Melvie Aurelia, Kinanti Della, Sheila Maharani.
Michelle Wijaya (2015–17), Andrew Lim, Patricia Krisan, Cynthia Novita, Merphilina Valencia, Almer Rashad, Dealonicha Andini, Gabriela Thian, Tasia Loekito, Putty Dewikarina, Praya Prayono.
The studio is looking for a Graphic Designer (GD; 1–3 years experience) and Art Director (AD; 4+ years experience). Full-time, Jakarta or Tangerang based. Open until filled. To apply, please submit your updated CV and most representative PDF portfolios, with the subject title "GD/AD - Your Name."
The studio accepts 3–6 months internship applications for a Research Assistant, Graphic Designer, and Photographer. Start date: June/July 2019.
